For financial fraud prevention, contextual signals can therefore become part of the agent’s authorization layer. Instead of treating permission as permanent, systems can continuously evaluate whether the current situation still fits the original authorization.

Some actions are difficult to reverse. Closing an account, transferring substantial funds or changing security credentials can have consequences beyond a single transaction.
Here, digital banking solutions can introduce approval thresholds. The agent may prepare the action, explain why it wants to take it and then pause until a customer or authorized employee confirms it. This creates human oversight without requiring people to approve every routine action.

A major risk is permission drift. An authorization granted months ago may no longer reflect the customer’s needs, account status or risk profile. Time-limited permissions, transaction caps and periodic reauthorization can reduce this problem. A well-designed agent does not need to complete every task it encounters. If available information conflicts, risk signals increase or the requested action exceeds its authority, the system should be able to stop and escalate.
